Upstate Roots Design was built on friendship, passion, and the belief that home is more than just a place—it’s a feeling.
We’re Kristin and Meagan, best friends from freshman year of high school. Through life’s highs and lows—heartbreak, weddings, grief, and babies—our bond remains unshakable. With time both spent out of the area after college, we made our way back home here to Rochester— to our roots. And when the time came to take a leap of faith, we did it together, turning our love for design into a business that felt like it was always meant to be.
For us, staging and design aren’t just about making homes look beautiful; it’s about helping people feel at home. Whether we’re transforming a vacant space into a buyer’s dream, helping homeowners navigate the selling process, helping you create a space you love, we put our hearts into every project. We know firsthand how life’s chapters unfold within four walls, and we’re honored to help others start their next one.

Our home base isn’t just our office; it’s a story of its own. Nestled in the heart of our community, Upstate Roots Design Headquarters — URD HQ — is a historic registered 1832 cobblestone home that we have poured our hearts into restoring while staying true to its original charm. Today, it’s a welcoming place where inspiration and creativity thrive — a foundation for our team’s celebrations, growth, and where we bring our visions to life.
Every detail of our headquarters reflects what the URD brand embodies. From its timeworn walls to the curated spaces inside, it’s a place where past and present meet, much like the properties we stage and design. We take pleasure in welcoming our clients and partners into this space with open arms because, at Upstate Roots Design, the journey will always be about creating HOME for others.
